Ceremony will be preceded by Round Table on "Cultural Heritage and Human Rights." It will bring together the winners of Alexey Komech Awards, experts and representatives of professional and public organizations.

In 2011, according to the jury decision, Alexei Komech Award was given to Vladimir Pluzhnikov and to social group "Arkhnadzor".
In 2010, according to the Jury decision,
Alexei Komech Award was given to Alexei Kovalev,
Deputy of the St. Petersburg City Legislature.
The Jury decision also noted achievements of David Sarkisyan, the former director of the Schusev State Museum of Architecture.
In 2009, the Alexey Komech Award was given to Aleksandr N. Zubov, Director of Simbirsk Museum and Reserve.
In 2008, the Alexey Komech Award was given to Professor Natalia Dushkina, Moscow Architect Institute.

Alexey Ilyich Komech was born on August 8, 1936. He graduated in 1959 from the Department of History, with specialization in the History of Arts, of Moscow State University. After the graduation, in 1959, he was hired by the Museum of Architecture. In 1959 he became an inspector for the Council for the Preservation of Ancient Monuments of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. From 1969 he held there a research position. He completed his Ph.D. in 1972 and his Habilitation in 1989. From 1989, he was the Chair of the Division of History of Ancient Russian Arts of the State Institute of Art Studies of the Ministry of Culture uf USSR. In 1990-91 he was the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Preservation of the Ministry of Culture of USSR. From 1991 to 1993 he was the Head of the Department of Preservation, Restoration and Management of Cultural Monuments of the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation. From 1994 he was the Director of the State Institute of Art Studies. Alexey Komech died on February 28, 2007.
All his life Alexey Komech spent studying, protecting, and promoting the cultural heritage of Russia, which is part of the world's cultural heritage. Through his activism and integrity, his name became widely known and credible in our country and throughout the world. A well-known scientific school formed around him; this school brought together art historians, restorers, the protection of culture workers, architects, artists and all those who are concerned about the current state, conservation and restoration of cultural monuments in the territory of the Russian Federation.
After the death of Alexey Komech, the need to support and coordinate public interest to the problems of preservation of cultural monuments became most acute. That is why in January 2008, on the initiative of prof. Alexander Komech, the annual Alexey Komech Award was established. It is awarded for socially meaningful work in protecting and preserving the cultural heritage of Russia. Founding the Award was supported by The State Institute of Art, Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, and The Publishing House "Northern Pilgrim".
